Fortescue General Manager Eliwana Katie Day recognised at Business News 40under40 Awards
Fortescue Metals Group (Fortescue) General Manager of Eliwana operations Katie Day has been recognised for her work in the mining sector with her inclusion in the Business News 40under40 Awards class of 2021.

recognised for her work in the mining sector with her inclusion in the Business
News 40under40 Awards class of 2021.
Now in its 20th year,
the Awards celebrate Western Australia’s top young talent across a diverse mix
of sectors from finance and health to law and community leadership.
Ms Day started her journey with
Fortescue over 10 years ago as a personal assistant, before progressing through
roles in the health, safety and environment teams. She has taken on leadership
roles in Company’s operations in Port Hedland and most recently was appointed
General Manager Eliwana in 2020.
She is the youngest female
operational general manager in Fortescue’s history and leads a team with some of
the highest workplace diversity rates across the Company’s Pilbara operations,
including 25 per cent female participation and 16 per cent Aboriginal
employment at Eliwana.

industry is making significant contributions to Western Australia and the
nation’s economy and I am so proud to be able to drive diversity and contribute
to a safer mining sector,” Ms Day Said.
“Fortescue’s unique culture and

and I now want to use my position as a leader within the business to empower
others to reach their full potential.”
