Deploying renewable energy infrastructure is critical to us achieving Real Zero by 2030.
We’re creating a renewable energy ecosystem—building solar farms, wind installations, battery storage systems, and a 750km transmission network, Pilbara Energy Connect (PEC).
This network is designed to integrate our operations into a unified, green-powered grid.
PEC: Phase One
In 2024, we completed the first phase of PEC: a 100MW solar farm at North Star Junction, 140km of transmission lines, and substations.
By 2030, we will deploy 2-3GW of renewable energy generation and battery storage to eliminate fossil fuels from our Australian iron ore operations.

Forward Focus
As we continue to decarbonise our Pilbara operations, our focus is now on expanding the PEC infrastructure.
This will provide an integrated transmission network, enabling renewable electricity that is generated at any of Fortescue’s sites to move between our operations.
Construction is set to commence on our 130MW Cloudbreak solar farm in March 2025.
Zero Emissions by 2030
Real Zero is our plan to eliminate our scope 1 and scope 2 emissions across our Australian iron ore operations, without voluntary carbon offsets. For the benefit of our planet, our shareholders, and future generations.
Global Operations
Our Metals business includes iron ore operations in the Pilbara and exploration projects across the globe, spanning sites from Australia to Latin America and Gabon.
