Iron Bridge celebrates 5 million tonnes of shipped magnetite
The Lowlands Crimson vessel has set sail for Indonesia, marking a milestone 5 million tonnes of magnetite shipped from our Iron Bridge site since operations began in 2023.
Iron Bridge has reached an exciting milestone, shipping 5 million tonnes (Mt) of magnetite to our customers since operations began in 2023.
On Friday 31 January, the Lowlands Crimson vessel set sail from Herb Elliott Port, carrying the 5 millionth tonne of Iron Bridge magnetite, bound for Indonesia.
Since the first shipment in July 2023 on the Cape America vessel to Formosa, Iron Bridge has processed over 16Mt of material through its ore processing facility, filtered over 5Mt of product through its concentrate handling facility and delivered 49 shipments of high-grade ore to customers worldwide.
“Congratulations to the entire Iron Bridge team on this achievement,” said Graham Howard, Director Operations, Iron Bridge.
“Iron Bridge magnetite is a key component of Fortescue’s product suite, complementing our integrated marketing strategy by providing customers with a higher-grade iron ore — a highly sought-after product in the market.”
The team remains focused on the safe ramp up to full production capacity, guided by our Values and driven by the resilience and determination of our people.
“The team has faced a number of challenges during ramp up, which they have tackled with determination, innovation, critical thinking and teamwork," said Nathan Jetson, General Manager of Operations.
"Shipping 5Mt of magnetite is no small feat – it’s equivalent to filling 2,000 Olympic-sized swimming pools or the combined total weight of 65 per cent of Australia’s population!”
Graham said the 5Mt milestone could not have been achieved without the dedication and hard work of the entire Iron Bridge and Fortescue team. Congratulations to everyone involved!
